Captain Oats at the Phenix launch

Well, it has been a while! Because of the gigs with Third Street Promenade I didn't have much time for Captain Oats. However, today we played some songs at the NSG for the launch of the school paper called Phenix. Sad but true, Bouke played the drums for the last time, because he's too busy and he's also in another great band called Tourette Quartet.
There's also good news: Meyke made some great pictures with her brand new camera! Furthermore, I think I've learnt a lot from the past six shows, so hopefully it all will get better and better!

Captain Oats at The Matrixx

Last Friday Captain Oats performed at The Matrixx for Dance 4 Life. For those of you who weren't there (or for those who want to see it all over again ;) ) a video has been made! Enjoy!

Delay

Unfortunately, there is some delay in a show we're going to play. I'm saying we because Bouke (drums, you know him from the newest video's) and maybe even Ernst (former 'Rijpe Peren' bass player) will join at least temporary (maybe if they like it, they'll be addicted to Captain Oats as much as I am ^^ ). Anyway..the delays. The opening act for the college paper has been delayed, because the paper isn't finished yet! There some technical problems, so the date has been changed from November 3rd to November 20th.

For a moment even the show (Dance4Life) in the Matrixx was at risk, because the organisation wasn't aware of the bands who wanted to play. They've set up some rules, so other bands are having problems due to the fact that a drums aren't allowed and everything has to be (semi)-acoustic. This isn't a problem for me, because I'll grab my semi-acoustic guitar and play some sweet Captain Oats tunes! I'm sure the organisation will agree, so everything is going to be alright.

By the way, the new song (coincidence or not: it is fully acoustic) will be released soon! Yesterday I made a kind of demo, but I had some problems with the different tracks for the guitar and vocals. Things will work out!

A new song!

I just finished the concept of a new song! I'm going to record it in a few days and it will be totally acoustic. A video will be released on the places where you'd expect them, (here, google, youtube, hyves) because this is going to be the song I'm going to participate with in VirusFreeGeneration.

Avondale

It's saturday, so it's time for a nice sing-a-long. With the band, still without a name, we're covering a song from Yellowcard called 'Avondale'. I've recorded it and you can download and listen it here.

No, this isn't a new song or something like that. Expect a little drumming time-out from me. My ankle hurts like hell because some muscles are stretched, so don't expect 'two-feet-like' basslines. Anyway, I'll keep you updated and I will record some songs for y'all with the still unnamed girl-band to pass those lame thursday evenings ;)

It's been a while..

Well, well. Long time no hear ;) I'm busy covering some numbers (just for improving my writing skills though) and playing with the "girlband" as I mentioned earlier. I'm also busy with an acoustic version of Take This Wave as I think there should be a song from Captain Oats at the music evening at our school, right? ^^

Anyway, I'll put something online soon! I'm dying to record it, but some strings from both guitars snatched.. aargh!

Sorry for not mentioning it, but there's a new song ready for your ears! It's called 'The Conversation'. I hope you'll like it!

FYI: The melody-line is just a fake, distorsion-violin on my effects-pedal. "Yeah, so what", you probably ask yourself, but the thing I want to say is that I'm working on this song with a couple of girls who want to start a band and there will be a violin in it. So, stay tuned!

It took a while, but this is a concept of a song called: The Idea. A song about just a idea that came in someones mind. Anyway, I have to experience a lot with the new microphone, because the sound is awesome and when you hear this song, it isn't yet.. I would say, hear for yourself! The start

In order to keep you guys more updated about Captain Oats, i've started this easy blog. Soon, you'll find new music, pictures and maybe even video's (who knows) at this place. Expect a nice lay-out soon, but first: let's make some music in high quality (a samsung mic. wil arrive in 4 days, so expect the existing songs in better quality).
